My Philosophy & My Promises
What if we did actually have a sixth sense…?
I think we do…
…It’s our sense of WONDER.
Children have a very strong innate sense of wonder, and my hope is to offer more spaces where children are empowered to utilize that wonder.
I think the foundation of being a good learner is to be curious. Children need to know that their curiosity not only belongs in their classrooms/learning environments, but that it is extremely valuable in those spaces.
When you give children the time and space to wonder, you’ll be amazed at what happens. Our young learners begin to formulate their own original thoughts, begin to trust their own ideas and gain confidence, begin to solve their own problems and answer their own questions, begin to understand others’ thoughts and become a better teammate, and begin to take more risks in and out of their learning environments.
I know all of this because I have been lucky enough to see it, firsthand.
My promises to my little learners:
I promise my lessons will be FUN…learning should always be fun!
I promise to always allow you to channel your curiosity and creativity into a fire of excitement
I promise to spark something so deep inside of you, that you will always be engaged and motivated by your own unique spark
I promise that all of your thoughts and ideas are just as important as the ideas that are in the adults’ brains around you
I promise that none of your questions are silly, and I will always do my best to answer them if I can
I promise to provide a space for your deep, original, and critical thinking
I promise to listen to you
I promise that both messiness and mistakes are more than okay
I promise to cultivate a space where you are always welcome; you belong exactly as you are
I promise that your wonder is the most important thing about you: trust that
Now, let’s find your SPARK !!
